NEWS AND NOTES
  • Montevallo enters the Gulf South Conference and Sunshine State Conference crossover tournament 10-9 overall on the season and 4-3 in GSC play.
  • The Falcons will play three matches in the crossover, two on Friday and one of Saturday, all against SSC opponents.
  • This is third time the Falcons have participated in the crossover, Montevallo has only won one match all time in the event. The Falcons topped Nova Southeastern 3-1 in 2017 at the Finley Center.
  • Montevallo's first opponent, Saint Leo enters today's 11:15 a.m. match 12-5 overall on the season and 6-3 in SSC play. The Lions will also face West Florida and Mississippi College in the event.
  • Montevallo's second opponent, Embry-Riddle enters today's 4:45 p.m. match 10-2 overall and 6-2 in SSC play. The Eagles will also face Union and West Florida. The match against the Falcons will be the first of the event for the Eagles.
  • Montevallo will face off against Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Falcons' third and final match of the tournament. The Sharks enter the crossover 10-6 overall and 3-5 in SSC play. Nova Southeastern will also face Mississippi College and Union before finishing with Montevallo on Saturday.
 
 
TEAM LEADERS
 
  • Senior Brioni Dixon leads the Falcons and is third in the Gulf South Conference with 216 kills. The senior leads Montevallo and ranks fifth in the GSC with a .314 hitting percentage. Dixon is also averaging 2.92 kills per set.
  • Sophomore Savannah Roys leads Montevallo in assists this season, having totaled 707, the most of any setter in the GSC. Roys ranks third in assists per set with 9.43.
  • On the defensive end, Skyler Sieber is averaging 3.88 digs per set this season, with 252 total digs on the season.
  • Dixon also leads the Falcons in total blocks with 64 on the season.
  • Senior Desiree Rodriguez is off to a career year offensively. Rodriguez was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week for back-to-back career high performances. The senior totaled a career-high 21 kills in a road win over Lee and has 205 kills on the season, just behind Dixon.  
  • Michaela Henderson has also found success this season, having totaled 25 service aces to lead the Falcons.
