SERIES HISTORY
  • Montevallo hosts Mississippi College for only the second time in program history. The Choctaws last visited Trustmark Arena on Feb. 8, 2018, an 80-69 win for the Falcons.
  • UM is 2-1 against MC since January 2018 and went 1-1 on the road in the Mississippi College Classic in the 1990s.
  • Tonight marks the 24th anniversary of Mississippi College's first win in the series. Montevallo won the first meeting, 65-52, on Nov. 27, 1993, but fell to MC 77-63 on Nov. 25, 1995. 
  • The Choctaws were victorious the only time the two teams met in 2018-2019, winning 74-69 in Clinton, Mississippi last November.
NEWS & NOTES
  • Montevallo is looking for its first 2-0 start in Gulf South Conference play since its 2005-06 championship season.
  • The Falcons defeated Delta State on Saturday, 76-61, to win its GSC home opener for the third-straight year. 
  • Montevallo Head Coach Danny Young is three wins away from 400 career wins with a 397-176 career record, including 343-169 at UM.
  • The Falcons' 4-2 record this year all comes against teams in the NCAA Division II South Region, going 1-1 against Sunshine State Conference teams, 2-1 against SIAC teams so far, and 1-0 in the GSC.
  • After tonight, UM will travel for three more regular season non-conference games before Christmas with return trips to Tuskegee (Nov. 27), Clark Atlanta (Dec. 4) and Miles (Dec. 7), as well as exhibition at UAB on Dec. 14. 

TEAM LEADERS
MONTEVALLO
  • Shooting 66.7% (38-of-57) from the floor, Wade Lowman continues to lead Montevallo and the Gulf South Conference in field goal percentage. His 17 points per game leads UM and is ninth in the GSC.
  • Defensively, Lowman's 10 total blocks are second in the GSC.
  • Jonas Parker and Lowman lead Montevallo in rebounds with 6.7 per game, good for 12th in the GSC.
  • Parker is averaging 16.3 points per game for the Falcons, followed by Xavier Malcom's 10.5 points per game.
  • Ivan Smith and Malcom each have 14 assists to lead UM and are tied for 12th in the conference.  

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
  • Winceton Edwards leads MC with 18.4 points per game, tied for fifth among Gulf South Conference scorers. Edwards has the fifth-best free throw percentage in the GSC at 87.5%.
  • Zach Jones is seventh in the conference in rebound with eight rebounds per game.
  • Winford Ross leads the conference with 2.6 blocks per game and 13 total.
