SERIES HISTORY
  • Last Meeting: Montevallo swept the Hawks on the road in Rome, Georgia earlier this season to pull within one in the all time series, which is led by Shorter, 3-2.
  • This is only the second time the teams have met in Montevallo, with UM having taken the previous meeting 3-1 last season.
  • The Falcons have taken two of the last three meetings in the series.

NEWS AND NOTES
  • Montevallo enters the the night a half-game behind Union (Tenn.) for the final opening round bye in the GSC tournament with four matches remaining in the season.
  • Shorter in in last in the GSC, with only one conference win in 2019. The Hawks are still mathematically alive for a postseason berth, but they need wins and a lot of help to make the tournament.
  • With a win and help, Montevallo can clinch a berth in the postseason tournament on Tuesday night.
MONTEVALLO LEADERS
  • Senior Brioni Dixon leads the Falcons and is 10th in the Gulf South Conference with 284 kills. The senior leads Montevallo and ranks third in the GSC with a .312 hitting percentage. Dixon is also 10th in the GSC with a kills average of 2.76 per set. 
  • Sophomore Savannah Roys leads Montevallo in assists this season, having totaled 966, the most of any setter in the GSC. Roys ranks third in assists per set with 9.29, having played in 104 sets.
  • On the defensive end, Michaela Henderson leads UM with 333 total digs, while Skyler Sieber is averaging at team-best 3.36 digs per set this season with 316 total digs.
  • Dixonhas reached the 100 block plateau and Hannah Fernandez is closing in the milestone. Dixon leads the team with 100 blocks, while Fernandez has put herself in position to join Dixon with 97 blocks so far this fall.
  • Henderson also leads the Falcons with 30 service aces. 
SHORTER LEADERS
  • Mirella Gatterdam leads the Hawks with 262 kills on the season, and she is hitting .178 for the year.
  • The Hawks' leader in attack percentage is Gracie Forbes at .240
  • Kendall Vondra leads the way for Shorter with 561 assists, while Taryn Cycholl (278) and Gabrielle Hogle (166) have also seen significant time setting for the Hawks.
  • Lacee Glover, Madison Sprosty, and Sofia Stephens all are tied for the team lead with 21 service aces.
  • Emily Wilson has posted 546 digs and a team-best 5.25 digs per set this season
  • Paris Buckner leads the Hawks with 61 blocks on the year.
