BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Marisa Snodgrass was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week after two standout performances in two Montevallo wins last week, the conference announced.
Snodgrass, a freshman from Hazel Green, Ala., scored a career-high 16 points in Montevallo's 63-50 win over Lane College on Saturday, when she also added five assists, three steals and three rebounds. In the Falcons' 80-60 victory against Stillman earlier in the week, she had six points to go along with five assists, four steals and three rebounds.
Through eight games this season, the former Miss Basketball Finalist and AHSAA Class 6A Player of the Year is averaging 9.0 points, 4.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals while starting every game. She's scored in double-figures in four games, including a span of three consecutive games against Tuskegee, Delta State and Mississippi College last month.
Snodgrass and the rest of the Montevallo women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 17 when the Falcons travel to Carrollton, Ga., to play the University of West Georgia in GSC action.
