SERIES HISTORY
  • Montevallo won the first matchup in the series' history when the Falcons won, 87-51, in Montevallo on Jan. 16, 1988.
  • Montevallo holds the longest winning streak by either team when the Falcons won nine straight game over Shorter from 1988 to 2007 with a three-year break between 1991 to 1993, followed by a 12-year hiatus between games from 1995-2006.
  • The Falcons have won the last two meetings in the series with a 73-70 victory on Feb. 17, 2018, before winning 42-37 on Dec. 17, 2018.

  • Last time out, Shyan Flack poured in a career-high 32 points on 14-of-21 shooting, including 4 of 7 from the free throw line. Flack, a sophomore forward from Somerville, Ala., also brought down 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double on the season and third in as many games. She enters Saturday's contest averaging 17.6 points and 8.8 rebounds a game.
  • Montevallo is just one of two teams – Union – who is still undefeated in Gulf South Conference play through this point of the season. Union sits atop the standings with a 4-0 mark, while the Falcons are hovering in second with a 3-0 record in GSC action. With 17 conference games left, UM is already five games shy of its conference wins from a season ago.
  • Montevallo's current five-game winning streak is the longest winning streak for the Falcons this decade.
 
SHORTER
  • Through seven games this season, Shorter has a scoring margin of -27.6 points as its opponents have outscored the Hawks by an average of 81.9 to 54.3.
  • Jasmine Gaines paces the Hawks in scoring with a 17.3 points per game average, while also averaging 5.8 rebounds a game. She's made 32 baskets – eight more than the next closest teammate – while also sinking four 3-point baskets and 36 free throws in 36.3 minutes per game.
  • In its two GSC games this season, Shorter has lost, 97-60, to Lee and 82-76 to West Alabama.
