Falcons take down Flying Fleet 15-10

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team defeated Erskine College 15-10 in a non-conference contest Feb. 23.

Senior Jami Hudak and sophomore Arianna Endelmann scored a team-high three goals each in the victory. Endelmann also recorded two assists and finished with a team-high five points.

Sophomore Natalie Dicken and freshman Anja Kuys, who recorded one assist, added two goals each in the win.

Junior Meghan Shea, sophomore Caleigh Spoon and freshmen Halee Macias, Lovisa Stadelmann and Crystal Williams scored one goal each. Macias and senior Georgi Griffin registered one assist each.

KEY GOALS

1st (29:19) | Senior Jami Hudak gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the opening minute with her goal off an assist from junior Janey Johnson.
1st (28:52) | Freshman Anja Kuys scored an unassisted goal to put the Falcons ahead 2-0.
1st (15:01) | Kayleigh Burns scored an unassisted goal to cap four consecutive goals by Erskine as the Flying Fleet took a 4-2 lead in the contest.
1st (2:32) | Hudak scored an unassisted goal to cap a 3-0 scoring run by the Falcons, which gave Montevallo a 5-4 lead.
1st (0:30) | Hudak added another goal in the final minute off an assist from sophomore Arianna Endelmann to give the Falcons a 6-5 lead at halftime.
2nd (28:23) | Kuys scored an unassisted goal to push the Falcons' lead to 8-5.
2nd (21:15) | Endelmann scored a goal off an assist from senior Georgi Griffin to give Montevallo its largest lead in the game at 11-6.
2nd (5:31) | Burns scored an unassisted goal to cap a 4-0 scoring run by the Flying Fleet, which trimmed the Falcons' lead to 11-10.
2nd (2:56) | Junior Meghan Shea scored the final goal off an assist from Johnson, which capped a run of four consecutive goals by the Falcons to end the contest.

GAME NOTES
  • Montevallo edged Erskine 32-29 in shots attempted.
  • The Falcons controlled 19 draws in the game compared to seven draws controlled by the Flying Fleet.
  • Montevallo successfully cleared 11-of-25 attempts in the contest with Erskine clearing 17-of-27 attempts.
  • Montevallo edged Erskine 26-24 in ground balls in the game.
