MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior Jason Cryar finished 1-for-3 from the plate while driving in two runs and scoring two runs. 
  • Senior Tyler Krabbe went 2-for-5 at the plate while hitting two home runs, driving in six runs and scoring two runs.
  • Senior Khari Anderson went 2-for-3 from the plate, with a double and a triple, while scoring four runs.
  • Senior Chrit Rudkin recorded six strikeouts in his first loss on the mound this season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Montevallo took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when senior Tyler Krabbe blasted a three-run home run over the left field wall, scoring seniors Khari Anderson and Jason Cryar.
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Montevallo added to their lead 4-0, when Cryar singled to left field, scoring junior Jake Morris. Later in the inning, Montevallo led 5-0 after Anderson scored on balk. 
  • Trevecca added six runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead 10-5.
  • In the bottom of the seventh inning Montevallo trailed 10-8 after Krabbe blasted another three-run home run, this time to right field, for his second of the day, driving in Anderson and Cryar. 
  • In the bottom of the ninth inning, Anderson tripled to left center field. Anderson scored, adding another run for Montevallo who trailed 10-9, after Cryar reached on a fielding error by the Trojans.
  • With two outs in the bottom of the ninth junior Sebastian Samuels reached on a fielders' choice and Cryar was thrown out at second to end the game with a win for Trevecca Nazarene 10-9.

UP NEXT

Montevallo will take on Trevecca Nazarene tomorrow Saturday Feb. 9, at Kermit A. Johnson Field, in games two and three of the series, in a doubleheader beginning a 1 p.m.
