Falcons top Lee 13-12 in GSC contest

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team defeated Lee University on the road 13-12 in a Gulf South Conference Contest. 
Freshman Anja Kuys led the Falcons in scoring with a career-high five goals. 
Junior Meghan Shea and sophomore Arianna Endelmann registered three goals each. 
Junior Sydny Dudley added two goals for Montevallo.
Senior Jami Hudak totaled a team-high four assists.
Junior Janey Johnson registered two assists along with a team-high four ground balls. 
Freshman Adriana Perro recorded two assists and two draws controlled while senior Georgi Griffin led the Falcons with six draws controlled. 
Endelman along with sophomore Caleigh Spoon each added one assist in the win.
Senior Irfana Ahmed registered a career-high 15 saves in the contest, posting a 55 percent save percentage.
KEY GOALS
1st (26:15) | Junior Meghan Shea gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead scoring off an assist from junior Janey Johnson.
1st (16:12) | Freshman Anja Kuys second straight goal for the Falcons to lead 4-1, off an assist from freshman Adriana Perro
1st (15:11) | Junior Sydny Dudley found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Caleigh Spoon to lead 5-2.
1st (4:43) | Kuys netted her third goal of the game, scoring a third straight goal for Montevallo, unassisted, to lead the Flames 8-3
1st (00:03) | Becca Broadwick scored the third straight goal for Lee to cut the deficit, to 8-6 at halftime. 
2nd (23:54) | The Falcons led 10-7 after a goal from sophomore Arianna Endelmann, assisted by senior Jami Hudak
2nd (2:32) | Endelmann scored her second goal of the game to lead 13-10, assisted by Hudak. 
GAME NOTES
  • The Flames outshot the Falcons 36-30 in the contest.
  • Montevallo finished with 17 turnovers compared to 14 turnovers by Lee. 
  • Lee totaled 14 ground balls while the Falcons totaled just 10.
  • Lee successfully cleared 12-of-15 attempts, while the Falcons finished 15-of-21 in clear attempts.
  • Lee finished with a 15-12 advantage in draws controlled.
  • The Falcons totaled five free-position attempts compared to seven by the Flames.
  • The Falcons totaled 15 saves while Lee totaled just 11.
