Falcons drop road contest to Saint Leo

Saint Leo, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell to Saint Leo University 20-4 on the road in a non-conference contest March 24.
 
Freshmen Sadie Bopst and Crystal Williams each scored one goal for the Falcons. 

Junior Sydny Dudley and sophomore Arianna Endelmann each added one goal. 

Junior Janey Johnson registered the lone assist for the Falcons, in the loss.

Junior Meghan Shea totaled a team-high two draws controlled. 

Senior Irfana Ahmed registered eight saves in the contest.
 
KEY GOALS
1st (26:36) | Saint Leo jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a goal from Sabrina Sanacore.
1st (26:09) | Freshman Crystal Williams netted the first goal of the game for Montevallo to trail 2-1, assisted by junior Janey Johnson.  
1st (04:03) | Saint Leo scored its 12thstraight goal to lead Montevallo 14-1.
2nd (29:09) | Junior Sydny Dudley scored the first goal of the second half to trail the Lions 14-2.
2nd (12:59) | After a three goal scoring run by the Lions, sophomore Arianna Endelmann found the back of the net, as the Falcons trailed Saint Leo 17-3.
2nd (02:58) | Freshman Sadie Bopst scored on a free-position shot to give the Falcons their fourth goal of the game, as Saint Leo led 20-4. 

GAME NOTES
  • The Lions out shot the Falcons 41-13 in the contest.
  • Montevallo finished with 20 turnovers compared to 13 turnovers by Saint Leo. 
  • Saint Leo totaled 32 ground balls while the Falcons totaled just 18.
  • The Lions successfully cleared 12-of-14 attempts, while the Falcons finished 13-of-20 in clear attempts.
  • Saint Leo finished with a 20-6 advantage in draws controlled.
  • The Lions totaled six free-position attempts compared to three by the Falcons.
  • The Falcons totaled 12 saves while Saint Leo totaled just 4.
