DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse fell on the road at Embry-Riddle University 21-1 in a non-conference game March 26.
Junior Meghan Shea and freshman Hailey Wilcox scored one goal each for the Falcons (4-5) in the contest.
Sophomore Caleigh Spoon finished with one assist.
Senior Irfana Ahmed recorded a career-high 20 saves in the game.
KEY GOALS
1st (29:48) | Kendall Leonard scored the first goal of the contest on a free-position attempt to give Embry-Riddle a 1-0 lead.
1st (20:03) | Mya Watson scored the Eagles' sixth goal in the first 10 minutes of the game to give Embry-Riddle a 6-0 advantage.
1st (14:47) | Montevallo scored its first goal in the contest when junior Meghan Shea scored off an assist from sophomore Caleigh Spoon on a man-up opportunity midway through the first half.
1st (3:41) | Embry-Riddle took its first double-digit lead, 11-1, following a goal by Leonard off an assist from Elizabeth Ninesling.
2nd (1:25) | Freshman Hailey Wilcox scored the final goal for the Falcons, unassisted, late in the second half.
GAME NOTES
- Embry-Riddle finished with a 53-7 advantage in shots attempted, including a 42-5 margin in shots on goal.
- The Eagles controlled 22 draws in the contest, compared to two draws controlled by Montevallo.
- Embry-Riddle converted 4-of-14 free-position shot attempts, while the Falcons were 0-of-3 in free-position opportunities.
- Montevallo finished with 26 turnovers compared to 16 turnovers by the Eagles.
