Falcons drop non-conference game against Findlay 24-6

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell to visiting University of Findlay 24-6 in a Gulf South Conference contest March 6.

Junior Sydny Dudley and sophomore Caleigh Spoon scored two goals each for the Falcons. 

Sophomore Arianna Endelmann and freshman Anja Kuys each added one goal.

Junior Janey Johnson recorded two assists, while Endelmann and Senior Nabyl Jimenez each added one. 

Sophomore Kay Tirrell registered 2 saves in the contest. 

Kuys totaled five ground balls and three draw controls. 

KEY GOALS

1st (28:19) | Madi DeVries scored the first goal of the game to give Findlay the 1-0 lead.

1st (24:54) | Brie Caruso scored a goal off an assist from Hannah Peebles to give the Oilers a 5-0 lead early in the game.

1st (22:56) | Sophomore Arianna Endelmann scored the Falcons' first goal in the game to trim the deficit to 5-1.

1st (15:43) | Kendra Lindell scored the 12th goal of the game for Findlay, to lead 12-1.

1st (14:31) | Sophomore Caleigh Spoon scored a goal off an assist from Endelmann to cut the Findlay lead to 12-2. 

1st (10:25) | Spoon scored her second goal of the game, off an asset from Junior Janey Johnson to trim the deficit to 12-3.

1st (3:01) | Freshman Anja Kuys scored an unassisted goal in the late stages of the first half. The Oilers carried a 14-4 lead in to the halftime. 

2nd (26:33) | Junior Sydny Dudley scored the first goal of the second half and fifth for Montevallo off an assist from Johnson

2nd (6:24) | Dudley scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Senior Nabyl Jimenez

GAME NOTES

  • The Oilers outshot the Falcons 32-15 in the contest.
  • Montevallo finished with 17 turnovers compared to 14 turnovers by Findlay. 
  • Findlay successfully cleared 10-of-16 attempts, while the Falcons finished 6-of-9 in clear attempts.
  • The Oilers finished with a 19-12 advantage in draws controlled.

The Falcons will host the University of Charleston in a non-conference play Tuesday, March 12 at 5 p.m.
