Falcons fall to Young Harris 19-4 in conference play

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell to Young Harris College 19-4 in a neutral-site contest to wrap up the regular season in Gulf South Conference play.

Freshman Anja Kuys scored three goals to lead the Falcons.

Junior Meghan Shea contributed one goal. Senior Jami Hudak, along with juniors Janey Johnson and Sydny Dudley, recorded one assist each.

Senior Irfana Ahmed registered eight saves and compiled a team-best eight ground balls.

The Falcons will now travel to Young Harris College next weekend for the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

1st (29:13) | Anna Luckie scored a goal off an assist from Erika Cross to give the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead.
1st (22:11) | Hayley Bartlett scored a goal off an assist from Cross to give Young Harris a 5-0 lead.
1st (14:44) | Sierra Haas scored an unassisted goal to cap a 7-0 scoring run by the Mountain Lions to start the game.
1st (13:03) | Freshman Anja Kuys scored a goal off an assist from junior Sydny Dudley for the Falcons' first goal in the game.
1st (9:36) | Junior Meghan Shea scored a goal off an assist from junior Janey Johnson to trim the deficit to 8-2.
1st (3:12) | Leigh Anne Turner scored an unassisted goal off a free-position attempt to give the Mountain Lions their first double-digit lead at 12-2.
2nd (28:37) | Freshman Anja Kuys scored a goal off an assist from senior Jami Hudak to trim the deficit to 13-3.
2nd (14:26) | Kuys scored the Falcons' final goal, unassisted, midway through the second half.
