  • Montevallo men's soccer will take the field to face the undefeated Francis Marion Patriots in a tough non-conference road contest.
  • The Falcons are coming off a win over No. 19 Clayton State. Montevallo handed the Lakers their first loss of the season in a thrilling 1-0 win in overtime. Freshman Fausto Castillo lifted the Falcons over the Lakers, scoring in the fourth minute of overtime. 
  • Montevallo is 2-1-1 on the season, following the Clayton State upset. Montevallo earned its first win of the season last weekend with a dominating 4-0 victory over Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers. The only loss of the season for the Falcons came in a 1-0 heartbreaker to No. 6 Palm Beach Atlantic.
  • Francis Marion enters the match 3-0 after wins over Coker, Queens, and Belmont Abbey.
 TEAM LEADERS
 
MONTEVALLO
  • Senior Robert Kuta has recorded 15 saves so far this season and has only allowed one goal.
  • Along with Kuta, redshirt Junior Rob McNeal, freshman Mario Gratzl and seniors Patrick Morton and Vladik Margolin lead a Falcons backline that has only allowed one goal all season. The defenders have combined for over 1,200 minutes this season, led by McNeal who has played all 384 minutes.
  • Offensively, the Falcons are led by junior Nemanja Acimovic and freshman Fausto Castillo. Acimovic, the Belgrade, Serbia native was named the GSC player of the week after his hat-trick performance against Christian Brothers. Castillo, the Guatemala City, Guatemala native, is the only other goal scorer for the Falcons this season.

  • For Francis Marion, Alvaro Zamora and Nestor Nunez have each scored two goals this season, leading the Patriots.
  • In goal, Maximiliano Rocco has made 12 saves and allowed no goals this season. Francis Marion has outscored its opponents 7-0 on the year.
