SERIES HISTORY
  • The first meeting between the University of Montevallo and Lee University is actually credited as a forfeit with the Falcons earning a 2-0 victory in Tennessee on Nov. 29, 1980.
  • Montevallo has always snapped its losing streak to Lee when it reaches two games. The Falcons won the first meeting, then loss the next two before winning again and dropping the next two. Thursday's meeting, if history stays par for the course, is when UM is expected to snap its two-game losing streak.
  • Lee took both meetings during the 2018-19 season. The Flames won in Cleveland, TN, 55-65, on Jan. 17, then took the game in Montevallo, 56-64, on Feb. 7.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

MONTEVALLO
  • Montevallo features four double-figure scorers in Wade Lowman, Jonas Parker, Cedric Jackson and Xavier Malcom. Lowman leads the team with a 16.8 scoring average with Parker, Jackson and Malcom following with 14.2, 12.7 and 10.9 marks, respectively. Romario Spence and Ivan Smith are next on the list with a 7.9 and 7.2 scoring averages, respectively.
  • Montevallo sits alone atop the GSC standings through this point of the season with a 7-0 conference record after beating Delta State, Mississippi College, West Georgia, Shorter, AUM, West Florida and Christian Brothers.
  • Last time out, Jackson recorded his fourth 20-plus game this season and third in the Falcons' last five games. Lowman also scored 20 points in Montevallo's last game as the senior matched Jackson's performance and reached the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season and first time since Dec. 4, 2019 at Clark Atlanta.

LEE
  • Lee University's Ryan Montgomery enters Thursday's game as the two-time reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week. He earned the honor this past week after scoring 50 points in two games; 16 came from the free throw line. Montgomery enters the game as the GSC's leading scorer with 21.6 mark through 12 games. The last time the league's leading scorer played at Trustmark Arena — UWF's Jon Brown on Jan. 6 — he was held well below his average.
  • Like the Lee women's basketball team, the men's team has a plus scoring margin as the Flames have outscored their opponents by 6.9 points. Offensively, Lee averages 77.8 points a contest, while allowing 70.9.
  • Since dropped a 71-73 game to AUM on Nov. 23, Lee has won its last 10 games, including seven straight GSC games.
