BIRMINGHAM, Ala - Over the weekend the University of Montevallo swim team battled against established swim programs throughout the state. Despite suffering losses at both meets the Falcons showed grit as they set multiple school and personal records.
In their 165-55 loss to Birmingham Southern, the men's swimming team showed their competitiveness in multiple events.
Thom Naccarato won first place in both the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.39, and the 100 yard backstroke clocking in at 54.13. The women's team also fell to both Birmingham Southern 175-52, and West Florida 202-35.
Despite coming up short, the Falcons showed promise as
Molly Hansen took first in the 100 yard breaststroke setting a new personal record with a time of 1:09.57.
Amanda Ware set two new school records in both the 500 yard freestyle clocking in at 5:32.00, and the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:19.53.
At Alabama both teams fought hard but ultimately fell short with the women losing 158-10, and the men 149-13. Lexi Cardwell,
Carlee Muncher,
Hailey Vance, and
Grace Sturgill came in second place in the 400 meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:28.85.
