MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo opens its 57^th season of basketball on Wednesday in Carrolton, Georgia to take on the West Georgia Wolves

• The 2020-21 campaign marks the 18^th season at Montevallo (20^th overall) for head coach Danny Young.
• The Falcons were selected third in this year's GSC East Preseason Poll behind Lee and Valdosta State.
• Montevallo returns three of their top scorers from the 2019-20 season which includes Jonas Parker (14.0 ppg), Ivan Smith (7.9 ppg), and Xavier Malcom (11.9 ppg).  The Falcon's will also look for contributions from sophomore TJ Martin who was a solid presence on both ends of the court in the 2019-20 season.
• UM's 2020-21 roster features six transfers and three freshman including Caleb Coleman a transfer from Prarie View A&M, Mason Shifflett a transfer from West Liberty, Travarus Carroll who transferred from Wallace Selma CC, JUCO transfer James McNeil from Frank Phillips, Latrell Carter out of Mississippi Delta, and Casper College transfer Braxton Bertolette.  Additionally Coleman and Carroll were selected as GSC Preseason Top Newcomers. 

"As always it takes time to figure things out, with our two shutdowns I think we have had a total of ten full practices so we haven't had the time to put enough stuff in to see what everyone can do"remarked head coach Danny Young.  "Just got to hope they catch on quick enough to what we are doing, buy in, and play hard and we'll see what the season brings."

The Falcons will travel to Valdosta State the following week on Wednesday December 16^th, taking on the Blazers at 7:00 PM EST.
