Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Falcons beat Lewis for their first conference win

MONTEVALLO, Ala - The Montevallo Men's Lacrosse team jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead and held off pesky Lewis University in the GLVC opener to win 11-9.   Freshman Scott Friant had a career game finding his teammates for six assists which is two short of the Montevallo single-game record. Junior Thomas Vaesen added 4 goals and Connor Frederick scored 2 goals along with 3 assists as the Falcons improved their overall record to 3-1 and 1-0 in the GLVC.

Third year Head Coach Jason Lange was encouraged by the team and their offensive approach, "First off, Lewis is a really good team that is well coached. Especially on the defensive side of the field.  Their zone frustates you but I thought our guys followed the game plan." The Falcons chemistry was on full display scoring from 10 assists which is two less than their season high.  "We are really happy the way we shared the ball today with 10 assisted goals out of 11."

Defensively, Junior Kyle Little was tough in the goal with 18 saves and a save percentage of 66.7%.    The Falcons only turned the ball over seven times as compared to 13 turnovers for Lewis.   The Falcons outshot the Flyers 43-40.

NEXT UP: The Falcons will take a trip to Lakeland, FL on Saturday February 29th to take on the nationally ranked Florida Southern Mocs of the Sunshine State.  Faceoff time is set for 11:00 AM EST.
