HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Montevallo men's soccer team took a 2-1 victory over Alabama-Huntsville, Friday night at Charger Park. With the win the Falcons inherit a 9-2-1 record with a 5-2-0 GSC record, while UAH drops to 4-4-2 with a 2-3-1 conference record.
"The rain played a major factor in the result tonight," remarked head coach
Bruce Dietterle. "We have had some games this year that we did not adjust to the conditions but tonight we came out on top because we adapted. Credit to this group for learning from their mistakes."
Montevallo gave up an early goal 4:05 minutes into the game when UAH's Vincente Arratia found Connor Young for a goal. The Falcons responded when
Nemanja Acimovic put the ball in the Charger net after a successful penalty kick opportunity to match the score 1-1 with 22:11 left in the half.
The match would go scoreless until 5:16 into the second half when
Edorta Cabieces Sanz played a ball for
Jonathan Guadarrama to score the game winning goal. The Falcons defense held off the Charger attack for the remainder of the second half to take the 2-1 victory.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will take on West Alabama on Sunday, October 17th at 3:30 for Senior Day.
