MONTEVALLO - Freshman forward
Heather Gomez scored a hat-trick as the Falcons celebrated Senior Day with a convincing 5-0 win over Spring Hill College on Friday at Varsity Field. It was the third consecutive win for the Falcons who improved to 5-4 on the season. The Badgers remained winless at 0-11.
"We put some must win pressure on the girls before Spring Hill and they came out and got the job done. All five goals coming from true freshman is a really encouraging sign. We've got another massive bout with the No.5 team in the region Sunday and we look forward to the opportunity." remarked head coach

Ashlin Cuesta and
Marica Miljanovic each a goal apiece for UM, while
Allye Darnell and
Tori Ochoa each had two assists each.Â
Gomez scored the first two goals, one in the 17th minute and the other in the 28th minute to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Darnell and Ochoa assists on both of the goals. Cuesta got into the act in the 32nd minute, scoring off of a combined assist from
Zariah Nogales and
Miranda Fragoso. The goal gave the Falcons a 3-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Gomez struck again in the 59th minute to give UM a 4-0 lead.
Avery Campbell had the assist. Cuesta and Miljanovic teamed up to cap the onslaught with the final goal in the 75th minute. Cuesta fed Miljanovic who found the back of the net for her third of the season.
For the game, the Falcons out-shot the Badgers 30-6. UM allowed only one shot-on-goal.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will be seeking their third straight win on Sunday, hosting West Florida at Varsity Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
