MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo men's soccer team battled but came up short in a 2-0 loss to Shorter University on Thursday evening at Varsity Field.
 
The loss brings UM's record to 0-3 in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series.   The Falcons are in Group B with Alabama-Huntsville, Auburn Montgomery, Lee and Shorter.
 
The Hawks out shot UM 14-9 in the contest with Nemanja Acimovic and Edin Hernandez tallying three shots each to lead the Falcons. 
 
Goalkeeper Casey Jones saved eight shots taken on goal by the Hawks.
 
After a 0-0 first half, Shorter scored their first goal at the 49:31 mark and then added a second goal at 79:23.  
 
UP NEXT: The men's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, March 6 when they travel to Delta State for a 6:00 pm match.
