Falcons prevail in season opener marking O'Brien's 400th career win

Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo volleyball team picked up a win in game number one of the 2021 spring season, 3-0 over the Talladega College Tornado's.  The win signified a career milestone for head coach Katie O'Brien, marking the 400th victory of her 13 year coaching career.

"Really proud of how the team played tonight. It's an honor to receive my 400th win. I wish that COVID-19 wasn't in the way but I am really thankful to all of my players past and present for their contributions to these wins.  None of this would be possible if it wasn't for them," remarked head coach Katie O'Brien.

The Falcon's started set one with a early 6-1 lead over the Tornado's off of an Allie Dishman attack.  Montevallo maintained a comfortable lead during the remainder of the set ending with a 25-13 score to take the set.

UM started the second set with an early 4-1 lead early on in the set.  Talladega kept it competitive as they managed to take a two point lead with the score 4-6 midway through the set. The Falcon's quickly regained control ending the set with a 25-13 win over the Tornado's.

Talladega was the first point on the scoreboard in set three taking a quick 0-1 lead over UM.  The Falcons went on to take the set 25-15 to complete the victory over the Tornado's.
