WEATHERING THE STORM: Women's lacrosse edges North Greenville 13-11 in South Carolina

TIGERVILLE, SC. -  After a series of postponements due to severe weather the UM womens lacrosse team took a 13-11 win over the North Greenville Crusaders, Friday in Tigerville.  With the win the Falcons advance to a 6-2 record and the Crusaders drop to 2-5.

Montevallo started the game in control firing off two scores within the first ten minutes of action.  North Greenville soon responded, scoring their first two goals in a row to even the score. 

Both teams traded scores for the remainder of the half until the final three minutes when the Falcons scored three goals for a strong finish to the period.  UM held an 8-5 lead over NGU by the end of the first half.

In the second half both teams brought the intensity as goals were continuously traded between the squads.  The game was tied 11-11 after UNG's Rachel Kellogg evened the score with 5:29 left to go. 

The Falcons held strong netting two goals to take a two point advantage in the final two minutes of the game.  The Falcon defense held off the Crusaders in the final minutes to secure a 13-11 road win.

Montevallo outshot North Greenville 26-22 with 21 on goal shots.  The Falcons also had the advantage in draw controls securing 14 compared to 12 for the Crusaders.

The Falcons were led by Anja Kuys (4 DC, 2 A, GB), Caleigh Spoon (GB), and Kate Gammi-Baglini (2 DC) who netted two goals each.  UM saw major contributions from Eleanor Bruce (4 DC, 2 A, GB, CT) Janey Johnson (A), Sadie Bopst (2 GB, CT), Hannah Fortin (3 GB), Hailey Wilcox (GB), Brianna Shepler (3 DC), and Adriana Perro who added a goal a piece to the Falcon win.
