JACKSON, Tenn. – The Montevallo women's basketball team conference tournament run came to an end in the GSC semifinal game against Union, Friday night in Jackson. The final score was 68-66 in Union's favor.
The Falcon's conclude an historic GSC season with a 14-6 record after the programs first conference semifinals.
Union had control of the game for the majority of the first three periods making way for a 17 point lead over UM with 6:03 left in the third quarter. The Falcon's cut the lead to a manageable ten points by the end of the third making the score 53-43 before the start of the fourth.
The Falcon's exploded in the fourth quarter with a quick five point swing in the first two minutes. A
Marisa Snodgrass layup would give the Falcons a 61-60 lead with 3:23 to go. The Falcons held on to a lead in the final minutes until a UM offensive foul gave the Bulldogs the ball with seventeen seconds left. Union's Sadie Knee knocked down a three with one second left, sealing the Bulldogs two point victory over the Falcons.
The Falcons saw four players score in double figures, led by
Jordan Jones who put up 22 points with four rebounds, two assists, a 50% three-point percentage.
Marisa Snodgrass also added 19 points with five assists and two rebounds. Senior
Kiya Sain's play was benefecial for UM as she scored 11 points with three rebounds and two assists.
Savannah Lee was highly productive for the Falcon's with a 10 point 11 rebound, double-double performance.
