CLINTON, Miss. - The Montevallo volleyball team took a 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-18, 25-21) win over the Mississippi College Choctaws on the road. With the win the Falcons improve to 7-6 on the year with a 1-0 GSC record and the Choctaws fall to 3-4, with a 1-1 conference record.
"This was a good conference win! Only 2 of our players had ever been to Mississippi College's arena before. Which is a tough place to play. We had several players step up to contribute. I'm proud of them," remarked head coach
Katie O'Brien.
Montevallo earned the win in set one but the Choctaws bounced back to take the second set 27-25. The Falcons regrouped in the third, holding MC to the lowest amount of points in the match (18).
Senior
Evelina Teran led the Falcons in hitting with 15 kills, along with 19 digs, and four blocks. Freshman
Elizabeth Wilzbach put down 13 kills, with five blocks and an ace.
Morgan Hoffman also notched double digit kills (11) for Montevallo along with six blocks for match.
Colton Thompson led the entire match in assists creating 52 scoring opportunities for UM.
Casey Hendrixson tied Teran with 19 digs followed
Megan Schram who had 16.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will head back to Alabama for an in-state match-up against West Alabama. The first serve is scheduled for tomorrow at 2:00 pm in Livingston.
