MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo defeated Lee 2-0 at Varsity Field, Friday, to snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 7-3-3 on the year and 6-3 in conference play.
After being held scoreless over the past two games, it didn't take long for Montevallo to open the scoring Friday night. Sophomore
Simon Wittmann scored his first goal of the season and the second of his career on a header off of a corner kick from
Edin Hernandez in the 16th minute.
In his first-career start, freshman goalkeeper
Tomas Valles paced the Falcons and made four saves. Following the goal, the first save of his career came in the 17
th minute as the Santiago, Chile native helped protect a one-goal lead. His fifth and final save of the match came in the 80
th minute as he continued to hold off the lead attack and help the Falcons hold on to a 1-0 advantage.
Narcis Bou Dalmau scored his fifth goal of the season in the 84
th minute following a beautiful run and cross from
Sebastian Flores to give UM a 2-0 lead.
Montevallo held off the No. 6 South Region ranked squad in the final six minutes, in route to a 2-0 win. With the win, UM handed Lee its first loss since falling to AUM 3-2 on Sept. 23.
HOW IT HAPPENED
