MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's soccer season came to an end Sunday afternoon after the Falcons fell to fifth seeded Lee, 3-2, in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament.
The Falcons fell behind early after Lee's Tatum Miller scored in the 14th minute. Montevallo knotted the game at 1-1 in the 38th minute when
Alea Taube scored her fourth goal of the season on a set piece with the assist credited to
Avery Campbell.
Lee stretched the lead to 3-1 with a goal right before halftime and another goal in the 59th minute.
Melanie Stevens cut the two-goal lead in half with a goal off a pass from
Tori Ochoa in the 71st minute. Stevens had a chance to tie the game with a shot in the 72nd minute that bounced off the right post and out of the goal.
Freshman keeper Jolie Cazale put together a strong showing against the third-highest scoring offense in the league with five saves in her 90 minutes of action.
