Women's Soccer Ties West Alabama, 0-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's soccer team recorded its second straight draw, 0-0, against in-state foe West Alabama on Sunday at Varsity Field.
 
Just 17 minutes into the game, Espy Sanchez fired the first shot on target for the Falcons but was denied by West Alabama's goalkeeper Maria Mon. Montevallo saw two more chances to score in the last five minutes of the first half when Tina Palmieri and Skylar Bennett went back-to-back with shots on goal in the 41st minute.
 
In the second half, Angelina Rivas took a penalty kick after a foul from West Alabama but was turned away by a diving save from Mon. The Falcons' back line held strong in the second half to fend off the Tigers and allow just one second-half shot.
 
Freshman keeper Jolie Cazale added another shutout to her record with an overall record of 4-1-1 on the season.
