Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team fell on the road to West Georgia, 62-59, to open conference play, Wednesday.
A late 6-3 run carried the Wolves past Montevallo in the fourth period. A three-pointer at the 3:59 mark from
Marisa Snodgrass made it a one-point game, but a West Georgia layup sealed the deal.
Snodgrass gave Montevallo a three-point lead at halftime, 37-34, after shooting 50 percent from the field and from three-point range. The first half featured eight lead changes and two ties as each side held a four-point lead at some point in the half.
Michaella Edwards and Snodgrass each added eight points in the first half.
The Falcons entered the fourth period with a one-point advantage, 47-42 despite building a five-point lead in the third. Montevallo was successful from downtown in the first half but were unable to convert from deep in the third. With 7:58 remaining in the fourth, West Georgia took its first lead of the game, 51-49, before AK Eastman gave the lead back to UM, 52-51, with a corner three-pointer. The Wolves used a 5-0 run to lead 56-54 before consecutive layups from Snodgrass evened the score, 56-56. Following Snodgrass' late three, the Falcons were unable to tie or take the lead following multiple attempts.

st | Montevallo trailed by one, 23-22, after shooting 61 percent from the field.

nd | The Falcons outscored UWG 15-11 in the second to lead, 37-34 at the half. The free-throw line proved to be a difference maker as the Falcons shot 4-of-6 from the charity stripe in the second.

rd | UM led by as many as five in the period but held just a one-point lead at the break, 47-46, after West Georgia closed on a 4-0 run.

th | West Georgia outscored UM 16-12 in the final period. Snodgrass scored seven of UM's 12 fourth period points.
GAME NOTES
- Snodgrass led the Falcons with 17 points in the contest to go along with a team-high eight rebounds and two steals.
- West Georgia outshot the Falcons from the field, 43.3 percent to 36.7 percent.
- The Wolves held a narrow advantage in second chance points, 12-10 and outrebounded the Falcons 41-37.
