MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell short 8-5 against Lenoir-Rhyne, Saturday afternoon at home. The Falcons slipped to 3-5 while the Bears advance to 3-4.
Despite the loss the Falcons received great efforts across the board and were led by
Lily McCormick who scored two goals along with two ground balls.
Anja Kuys was solid for UM after notching a goal with five ground balls, and a draw control.
The Bears jumped out for the lead against the Falcons after scoring two unanswered to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Lenoir-Rhyne scored the first goal in the second quarter, but the Falcons responded with three consecutive goals to tie the game 3-3 at halftime.
The nets went silent for the Falcons in the third quarter as LRU added two goals to establish a 5-3 lead by the fourth quarter. The Bears found another goal to kick off the fourth quarter to jump ahead 6-3 with 12:56 left in the game. The Falcons battled for two more goals but it would not be enough to survive Lenoir-Rhyne.
