Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's lacrosse slips 12-9 at Maryville

ST. LOUIS, MO - The Montevallo men's lacrosse team came up just short as they fell 12-9 in a hard fought match against Maryville University, Saturday afternoon on the road.  The loss brings Montevallo's season record to 4-5 while the Saints advance to 7-1.

The Falcons jumped ahead of Maryville in only 00:07 seconds after Jackson Neufeld dished a pass for Anthony Pecoraro to score.   The Saints soon answered with a game tying goal with 11:25 left in the quarter.   Both teams went back and forth with goals until the Falcons set off three unanswered goals in the last 3:45 of the period to take a 6-3 lead. 
 
The Saints bounced back from UM's scoring frenzy in the second quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take the lead 7-6 with 3:15 left in the half.  Jackson Neufeld scored a game tying goal with 00:06 left, leaving the score gridlocked at 7-7 by halftime. 
 
Thomas Vaesen found the first goal for UM in the second half off of a Kordell Primus assist to regain the lead.  Maryville rounded out the third quarter with two straight goals to take a 9-8 lead over UM.  
 
The Saints hot streak spilled into the fourth quarter, setting off three additional goals to build a 12-8 lead over the Falcons with 8:53 left in the game.  The nets went silent for the next 7:42 until Connor Frederick netted UM's ninth goal with 1:01 left in the game 

UP NEXT: The Falcons head to Salt Lake City, Utah on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:00 MST to face the Westminster College Griffins.
