GREENWOOD, SC. – The Montevallo women's lacrosse team came up just short against Lander, falling 13-12 after hard fought match up on the road, Saturday afternoon.  With the loss the Falcons fall to 2-4 and 0-1 in conference, while Lander advances to 6-1, and 1-0.
 
The Bearcats sparked an early two goal lead until Jodi Moraweic and Lily McCormick put together the Falcons first two goals to tie the game 2-2 with 7:12 on the clock.  Anja Kuys netted an additional goal to grant UM the lead but Lander tied it with a goal of their own in the final minute of the quarter.
 
Lander jumped out for three unanswered goals in the second quarter until Eleanor Bruce sank UM's fourth goal off the pass from Lily McCormick to make the score 6-4.  Both teams scored an additional goal before half time for a 7-5 score in favor of the Bearcats.
 
The Falcons ignited their score with three unanswered goals in the second half to take an 8-7 lead with 9:57 left in the third.  Lander responded with two consecutive goals of their own to retake the lead 9-8 by the end of the period.

The game stayed tight in the fourth as both teams traded goal for goal until the game was tied 11-11 with 1:37 left in the game.  The Bearcats found a clutch goal in the final minute to regain the lead 12-11 with 00:46 left on the clock.  The Falcons scrapped for a game tying goal but could not outlast Lander in the final moments of the game.
