MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo softball team took the rubber game of the final Gulf South Conference doubleheader of the season, beating West Georgia 8-3. The Wolves won the first game 9-7 to force a split. The Falcons finished the regular season at 25-21 overall and 15-13 in the GSC, while the Wolves ended 2022 at 15-31 and 8-21.
Next Up: The Falcons will head to Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. for the 2022 Gulf South Conference tournament on May 4-7. UM will be the No. 7 seed and likely face the No. 2 seed Valdosta State on Wednesday, May 4 at 12:30 p.m.
GAME 1 (West Georgia 9, Montevallo 7)
Pitching
Mychael McMillan (11-7) was tagged with the loss. She She held the Wolves to only four hits, but was saddled with seven runs. She also issued five free passes.
Falcons Leaders
Sierra Easterwood led the Falcons at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Three other Falcons had two hits each.
Taylor Robinson was 2-for3 with a double and three RBIs, while
Alisha Lanyon was 2-for-3 with an RBI and she scored a run.

After West Georgia scored a run in the top of the inning, the Falcons answered with a pair in the bottom of the inning on a 2-run double by
Taylor Robinson to take a 2-1 lead.
3rd Inning
Robinson drove home her third run of the game with an RBI single.
4th Inning
The Wolves had a huge inning, posting seven runs to open up a five run lead. The big blow was a grand slam by Hannah Scarbrough that made it 8-3. The Falcons got two runs back in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by
Sierra Easterwood and
Hannah Carey. The runs trimmed the UWG lead to 8-5.
5th Inning
West Georgia extended their lead to 9-5 with an RBI single by Kristyn Nix.
6th Inning
A sacrifice fly by Carey and an RBI single by
Alisha Lanyon cut the deficit to 9-7. However, the Falcons couldn't muster a rally the rest of the way.
GAME 2
Pitching
Kaylee Hawkins pitched six innings to earn the win and even her record at 7-7. She scattered five hits and allowed two runs, while striking out four and walking three.
Falcons Leaders
Sierra Easterwood went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Falcons. She also drove in a run and scored one.
Hannah Carey was 2-for-4 and had a 3-run bomb that put the game out of reach.

UWG loaded the bases, but Falcons pitcher
Kaylee Hawkins escaped the jam to avoid any damage. Meanwhile,
Sydnee Pawlak extended the Falcons lead with an RBI single to make the score 5-2.
6th Inning
Hannah Carey smashed a 3-run homer to give the Falcons an 8-2 lead.
7th Inning
Hannah Scarbrough hit the Wolves third homer of the game, to complete the scoring.
