Falcons slip 18-11 at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Montevallo women's lacrosse battled but fell short 18-11 against Young Harris, Saturday evening on the road.  With the loss the Falcons are now 3-10 overall this season, with a 0-3 Gulf South Conference record.

UP NEXT: UM is set to take on Birmingham Southern, with the first draw set for 7:00 PM at the Montevallo Track and Field/Lacrosse Stadium. 

Key Players
Anja Kuys provided the Falcons with three goals and a ground ball.  Crystal Williams, Jodi Morawiec, Rylee Horton, Amber Lynch, Jenna Piazza, and Lily Moats also added contributions to the UM scoring effort.

Team Stats
The Falcons were out-shot 32-31 by the Mountain Lions, with an additional 27-24 edge in shots on frame.  Despite the loss UM led the game 13-8 in FPS's, 17-15 in draw controls, while completing 15/19 clear attempts.

Key Plays
1st Quarter
The Falcons jumped on the scoreboard first with a free position goal from freshman Amber Lynch, 00:53 seconds into the game.  Both teams traded goals until the Falcons set off three unanswered to take their largest lead of the night 6-3. 

2nd Quarter
The Mountain Lions score four unanswered goals to start the second, building themselves a 8-6 lead over UM.  The Falcons found two goals in the period but the Young Harris scoring run left Montevallo in a 10-8 bind by the halftime break.

3rd Quarter
Young Harris added two additional goals in the third quarter to take a 12-8 edge over Montevallo.  Rylee Horton added a goal to tighten the YHC lead to three.

4th Quarter
Crystal Williams netted an additional goal in the fourth, setting the score at 12-10 with 14:02 left on the clock.  Young Harris answered with four consecutive goals to notch a 15-10 lead with 7:52 left in the game.  Jenna Piazza added Montevallo's final goal with 1:56 left, before the Mountain Lions added their final two goals.
