Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo women's lacrosse team blasted Birmingham Southern 20-4 in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at the UM Lacrosse Complex. The Falcons improved to 4-10 with the win, while Birmingham Southern fell to 8-8.
NEXT UP: The Falcons host Shorter University on Friday night at 6 p.m. in a Gulf South Conference match. The Falcons will honor the 2022 seniors before the two teams face-off.
Falcons Leaders
Rylee Horton and
Lily McCormick had four goals each to lead the Falcons onslaught. Horton also had four assists, finishing the game with eight points, while McCormick added two assists and tallied six points.
Caleigh Spoon had two goals and two assists,
Jodi Morawiec and
Anja Kuys finished with two goals apiece. Â
In-Goal
Rachel Rose and
Miranda Laird each played a half in goal. Each gave up two goals and had one save. Rose was credited with the win as the starter.
Key Plays
1st period
The Falcons dominated the opening period scoring seven goals and taking a 7-0 lead. Six players scored in the period. McCormick had two of the goals.
2nd period
Although the Panthers got on the board, the Falcons outscored the visitors 5-2 to take a commanding 12-2 halftime lead.
Jodi Morawiec scored her second goal of the game, as did
Rylee Horton.
3rd period
UM had another shutout period, outscoring BSC 5-0 to extend the lead to 17-2 heading into the final period. McCormick added two more goals to her totals.

Horton scored her fourth goal of the game to help round out the scoring for the Falcons.
