MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker, 86-82, to No. 22 Lee, in overtime, in Trustmark Arena, Saturday.
After never trailing in regulation and leading for over 39 minutes, the Falcons were outscored 14-10 in overtime. Lee took its first lead of the game, 74-72 in the first possession of OT.
With 2:18 reaming in the second half,
Mason Shifflett put the Falcons up five, 70-65. Lee responded with a 7-2 run to force overtime, in the final minutes.
In overtime, Montevallo fell behind by six, 78-72, with 2:10 to go, before a pair of
Braxton Bertolette free-throws and a three-pointer cut the deficit to two, 79-77 at the 1:46 mark. A second-chance bucket for
Tyler Moore once again made it a two-point game, 84-82 with eight seconds remaining. However, Lee held the Falcons at bay from the free-throw line in the final seconds.
Montevallo opened the contest on a 7-0 run and led by as many as 20 points, 54-34, at the 14:40 mark of the second half. Lee outscored Montevallo 58 to 47 combined between the second half and OT.

GAME NOTES
- Mason Shifflett led the Falcons with a team-high 21 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with nine alongside freshman Tyler Moore. Moore added 18 points and a team-high five assists.
- Braxton Bertolette totaled 17 points while James McNeil added 13.
- Montevallo led for 39:03 in the contest and by as many as 20 points.
- There was just one tie and one lead change. Lee used a 6-0 in overtime to take its first lead of the game. Lee forced OT on a 7-2 run in the final 2:18.
- Montevallo outrebounded Lee 44-43 but the Flames held a 12-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
- Second chance points and points-from-turnovers favored the visitors while the home outside held a 36-18 advantage in the paint.
