MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer fell to No. 15 Auburn Montgomery, 3-1, on the road on Firday night.
Montevallo came out of the gate on the attack with senior midfielder
Mark Shoebridge taking the game's first shot in the first 90 seconds.
Back-to-back Warhawk corners in the third and fourth minutes would eventually lead to the game's first goal in the fourth minute.
Hugo Cakurda looked to answer in the seventh minute, but his shot missed out left.
AUM would add to its lead in the 14
th minute, leaving the Falcons in an early 2-0 hole.
In the 20
th minute, the Falcons' attack nearly sliced the lead in half with back-to-back shots on goal from Cakurda and senior
Renzo Bozzo but the Warhawk keeper kept the Falcons off the board.
Montevallo's
Otger Vendrell saw his first shot on frame in the 26
th minute before AUM added a third goal just six minutes later.
The Falcons took a pair of shots in the early going of the second half before the woodwork kept the Warhawks out of net in the 66
th minute.
Neither side gave an inch to the other until
Tomas Valles Gilbert was forced to make a save in the 82
nd minute which sparked the Falcon attack. Just minutes later, Vendrell would score Montevallo's lone goal of the night of a pass from
Michael Milliron in the 87
th minute.
Vendrell would find another shot on goal in the closing stages, but the Warhawks took the game, 3-1.
