MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer is set for a weekend in Tennessee with matchups at Union and Christian Brothers scheduled for the coming days.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons kicked off the season with a 3-1 record in non-conference action with wins over Kentucky Wesleyan, Trevecca Nazarene and West Alabama. Montevallo began conference play with an unbeaten 2-0-2 record after topping Valdosta State and Shorter while tying with West Georgia and Lee. UM struggled for the next two weekends, posting an 0-3-1 record before picking up a victory on the road at Auburn Montgomery in the last outing. Montevallo currently ranks ninth in the league standings with a 3-3-3 conference record and a 6-4-3 overall mark. The Falcons boast one of the top defenses in the Gulf South with a goals against average of 0.77 goals per game while allowing just 10 goals in 13 outings.
Scouting Union: WATCH | LIVE STATS
Union enters the weekend as the No. 7 team in the GSC standings with a 5-4 conference record and a 7-6 record overall. The Lady Bulldogs began the season with a 1-2 record in non-league play before starting the league slate with wins over CBU and Delta State. Union then went on a three-game skid against UWG, Mississippi College, and VSU before winning three in a row against West Alabama, Alabama Huntsville and Spring Hill. In its latest contest, Union fell to West Florida, 2-1, on Oct. 15. Sophomore forward Madison Woolridge heads the Lady Bulldog attack with four goals while Rylee Iorio holds a 5-5-1 record in goal with four shutouts.
Scouting Christian Brothers: WATCH | LIVE STATS
The Lady Bucs come into Sunday's matchup just two games behind the Falcons with a 3-5-1 conference mark and a 5-6-3 overall record. CBU posted a 2-1-2 record in non-conference action to start the season before taking a 2-0 loss to Union to start the conference schedule. CBU managed to top Mississippi College 1-0 before going an a three-game losing streak against Delta State, VSU and UWG. CBU rebounded with a tie against UAH and a 2-1 win over UWA before falling to No. 22 West Florida. Most recently, the Lady Bucs topped Spring Hill 4-1 on Oct. 15. The CBU attack is led by sophomore Flavia Iorio with a team-leading five goals and 10 points. The Lady Bucs backline is highlighted by senior keeper Chloe Hillyer with her 1.12 goals against average and four shutouts on the year.
Series History Against Union:
Since 2017, Montevallo and Union have met once each season with Montevallo holding a 6-0 record over the Lady Bulldogs. The series began with back-to-back road wins for the Falcons before taking the first matchup in Montevallo 3-1 in 2019. The Falcons managed consecutive shutout victories in 2020 and 2021 before taking the most recent game 2-1 on Sept. 18, 2023.
Series History Against Christian Brothers:
Montevallo owns a 7-3-3 record against Christian Brothers since 2005 with the Falcons taking both opening matches in 2005 and 2007. Following a tie and another Falcon win in 2008, Christian Brothers earned its first two wins in the series in 2010 and 2011. Since 2011, the Falcons are 4-1-2 against CBU with Montevallo's lone loss coming in 2021.

The Falcons' offense is led by a seasoned trio with Keiran Burkey,
Alea Taube and
Kaeri Ward scoring a team-high three goals so far this season. The Falcons' attack involves much of the roster with 11 other Falcons finding the back of the net at least once.
Madeline Milby is still the Montevallo's leading helping hand with a team-high four assists while
Miranda Fragoso and
Morgan Goehring each hold three assists. Montevallo's two-headed goal keeping corps of
Emily Hounsell and
Jolie Cazale have combined for six shutouts this season while allowing just 10 goals through 13 games.
