MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Montevallo men's soccer fell on the road at Christian Brothers, 1-0, on Sunday evening.
Montevallo looked to strike early with senior midfielder finding Montevallo's first shot on goal inside the first seven minutes of the game.
The Falcons kept the pressure on with
Otger Vendrell taking a shot on frame ten minutes later followed by a dangerous
Julio Rojo shot in the 20
th minute.
Christian Brothers would take control of the game in the 24
th minute after a Buc goal.
Montevallo nearly responded with a goal of its own just moments later when Rojo almost picked up the rebound of his shot on target at the 28-minute mark.
The Falcons were poised to tie the game just before the half off a corner, but
Nick Morrow's shot just missed out left.
Montevallo seemed to tie the game out of the half but an offside call in the 50
th minute kept Montevallo in a 1-0 hole.
UM looked set for another scoring chance at the 65-minute mark but the Bucs back line thwarted yet another Falcon opportunity.
Montevallo saw a pair of dangerous chances in the 70
th and 74
th minutes with Vendrell and
Brock Barbee taking shots inside the 18-yard box that just missed the target.
The Falcon attack saw several more scoring opportunities in the closing stages including a header from Bozzo at the 82-minute mark and a blocked shot from Rojo in the 88
th minute but none found the back of the net.
