MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo Cross Country teams are two of the total 39 teams set to run in the 2023 NCAA South Region Championship race hosted by Montevallo on Saturday, Nov. 4. The women's 6K race will begin at 8 a.m. while the men's 10K is set to start at 9:15 a.m. at the Montevallo Cross Country Course.
 
On the men's side, Lee University enters the race as the top-ranked team in the South Region and in the GSC. Florida Southern comes in fourth while they are the top team in the Sunshine State Conference. Multiple GSC schools come in ranked inside the top-ten as Alabama-Huntsville enters the race in second, Mississippi College in third, Christian Brothers in seventh, Auburn Montgomery in eighth, West Florida in ninth and Union rounds out the top-ten in 10^th.
 
The Montevallo men unranked and are seeking their first regional title in program-history. The men seek to best the team's eighth-place finish at the 2022 South Regional last season.
 
For the women, Lee comes in the top spot in the rankings while GSC foes Mississippi College, Alabama-Huntsville, Union and Auburn Montgomery are included in the top-ten.
 
The Montevallo women are looking to add a fourth regional title to the program and are seeking to improve on their 14^th place finish at the 2022 South Regional a season ago.
 
Each of the top three teams from the regional meets will automatically receive a bid to the NCAA National Championships held in Joplin, Mo. On Nov. 18. The two top individuals from each meet that are not a part of a qualifying team as well as individuals with top-5 finishes at the regional meet and are not part of a qualifying team will also advance to the National Championship.
