Falcons Take on West Georgia and Valdosta State in Final Weekend of the Regular Season

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team is set for the final weekend of the regular season where they travel to Carrollton, Ga. on Friday, Nov. 10 and Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Last Time Out
The Falcons are coming off a loss to Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 3. Allie Dishman led Montevallo with nine kills and a .467 hit percentage while Colton Thompson had 16 assists, three kills, an ace and six digs.

About Montevallo
The Falcons come in with a 9-5 record in Gulf South Conference play which has them tied for fourth with Valdosta State. Currently, UM has a 3-5 record when playing on the road while West Georgia and Valdosta State have a combined 13-8 record at home this season.
 
Last season, Montevallo defeated the Wolves 3-1 but lost to the Blazers 1-3.
 
Allie Dishman is currently tied for sixth in the GSC with a .309 hit percentage while having the most kills for the Falcons with 231.
 
Colton Thompson leads UM and is sixth in the conference with 598 assists. Casey Hendrixson is tied for eighth in digs with 331.
 
The Falcons are 8-2 when they have 50 or more kills while they are 7-1 when they have a .200 hit percentage or better.
 
Scouting West Georgia
The Wolves come into Friday's match with a 13-13 overall record and a 7-7 conference record. UWG is currently the seventh seed for the GSC tournament with a chance to move up with two big matches left on their schedule.
 
West Georgia is coming off a loss to Lee, 1-3, but they beat the Falcons in their previous match up on Sept. 30.
 
Zoe LaBreche leads the Wolves and is second in the GSC with 333 kills and sixth with 47 service aces. Sarah Pipping is also top 10 in the conference with 226 kills.
 
Desha Van Veldhuizen has won GSC Freshman of the Week four times this season and has the fourth highest number of assists in the conference with 666. Desha also has 25 service aces in the year.

Scouting Valdosta State
Like the Falcons, Valdosta State comes in with a 9-5 GSC record for a share fourth place in the standings. VSU is coming off a weekend where they swept Lee and Shorter to pick up two victories.
 
Earlier in the season, the Blazers fell to the Falcons 1-3 in Montevallo.
 
Christina Pettigrew is second in the GSC with a .320 hit percentage and Katie Callenberger is ninth with a .294 hit percentage. Mackenzie Murray leads Valdosta State and is fourth in the Gulf South with 296 kills on the season.
 
Defensively, Pettigrew and Callenberger are top-five in total blocks with 184 combined on the season. Kaia Baker has the sixth most digs in the conference with 356.
