Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball fell to UAB, 92-56, in a midseason exhibition contest in Birmingham.
The Falcons forced UAB turnovers early while shooting 4-for-6 from the field to start to take a 10-6 lead at the first media timeout. A quick Blazer 5-0 run left the Falcons trailing out of the media before
Aidan Gardiner's bucket regained control for the Falcons, 12-11, with 15:01 on the clock. Falcon forward Just Graham's seventh point of the first half brought Montevallo back within two after another quick run from UAB. An 8-0 Montevallo run, capped by an up-and-under layup from Cam Glover, tied the game at 22 apiece with 9:12 to go. The two sides traded buckets for the next three minutes until a 19-1 run from the Blazers in the final six minutes of the half left Montevallo trailing 44-28 at the half.
Montevallo's early turnovers in the second led to UAB outscoring the Falcons 14-4 by the second half's first media timeout. A
Brandon Fussell reverse layup ended a 6-0 UAB run with 15:36 on the clock but the Falcons still trailed by 24. Despite the Falcons shooting 55 percent from the floor in the first eight minutes of the half, Montevallo found itself in a 70-38 hole with 12:08 to go with the Blazers shooting 10-of-12 from the field. Another Graham jumper ended an 11-2 UAB run with 7:21 on the clock and capped a quick four Falcon points. With a 6-0 run highlighted by a pair of Fussell buckets, Montevallo began to cut into the Blazer's lead heading into the final media timeout. The gap proved to be too much for the Falcons to overcome, falling 92-56, in Birmingham.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st | The Falcons shot the ball at a high mark to start the game with a 5-for-7 start from the field and a 2-for-3 start from three that slowly faded as the half went on. The Blazers post presence proved to be a tough matchup for the Falcons, allowing 26 points in the paint. Montevallo forced seven UAB turnovers in the first half to convert those into 13 points.
2nd | Montevallo shot the ball well in the second half with a 41.9 percent mark from the floor but, 11 turnovers in the half allowed 20 Blazer points.
Brandon Fussell highlighted the Falcons' offense in the second half with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting while
Tyson Sexton added six on 3-of-4 shooting.
GAME NOTES
- Montevallo's scoring was led by 18 points from Justin Graham who proved to be the lone Falcon to score double digits.
- The Falcons bested its season average with a 39.3 percent shooting day with a 24-for-61 mark while struggling a bit from behind the arc with a 20.8 percent clip.
- Montevallo pounded the paint with 38 of the Falcons 56 total points coming in the painted area.
