Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – A late second-half comeback fell short for the University of Montevallo men's basketball team, 90-80, Sunday afternoon in the McChesney Student Activity Center.
The Falcons, who trailed by as many as 19, surged back to make it a four-point game with under a minute remaining, 80-84, following a pair of
Charlie Champagne free-throws. The 10-2 run began with free throws from
Brandon Fussell.
To begin the game, Montevallo opened with its foot on the gas, scoring 28 points in the first 10 minutes behind 12 from sophomore
Jaylen Curry. The Flames hung around, however, and used an 18-2 run to jump in front of UM, 33-30. Lee controlled the pace the rest of the way and led 44-37 at halftime.
Lee opened the second half on a 9-2 run that was halted by a
Mason Shifflett three-pointer to trim the lead to 11, 53-42 with 14:50 to go. Montevallo matched Lee's scoring the rest of the way, but it wasn't enough to hold off the undefeated Flames.
In the end, free-throws were the difference as Lee outscored UM from the charity-stripe by 12.
Jaylen Curry poured in a career-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds.

st | The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, 28-15, over the Flames behind 12 points from
Jaylen Curry in the first ten minutes. In response, Lee went on an 18-2 run. A three-pointer from
Charlie Champagne evened the score 33-33 to help halt the Lee run at the 4:06 mark. Lee closed the half on an 11-4 run to lead 44-37 at the break. Curry led UM with 14 points in the first.

nd | A three-pointer from Mason Shifflet with 14:50 to play ended a 9-2 run from Lee to begin the half, cutting the deficit to 11, 53-42. Curry added 18 points in the second frame but it wasn't enough to hold off the Flames.
GAME NOTES
- Free-throws proved to be the difference in the contest as Lee finished 23-of-32 from the line while Montevallo was just 11-of-17.
- Lee won the battle on the boards, 48-37 but UM held a 25-23 advantage in second-chance points.
- Shootings percentages finished fairly even, as Lee shot 43.3 percent compared to UM's 44.9. From three, both sides finished at 28 percent.
- Jaylen Curry led all scorers with a career-high 32 points.
