MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team dropped a Gulf South Conference Matchup, 83-56, to Union, Sunday, at the McChesney Student Activity Center.
Montevallo battled with the visiting Bulldogs in the first half, which featured five ties and five lead changes. An eight-point scoring burst from
Charlie Champagne off the bench helped UM climb out of an early hole. Cam Glover gave Montevallo its largest lead of the game, 17-13, at the 11:08 mark in the first. Union outscored Montevallo 6-0 in the final two minutes to lead 30-28 at the half.
The second half was all Bulldogs as Union outscored Montevallo 53-28 in the frame while tallying 10 second-half threes. Union finished 16-of-35 from three-point range in the contest.
Four Falcons scored in double-figures as
Jaylen Curry led the way with 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st | Charlie Champagne led Montevallo with eight points in the first half, all coming consecutively. There were five lead-changes and five ties in the first half. With 11:08 to play in the first half, a three-pointer from Cam Glover gave Montevallo its largest lead, 17-13. A free-throw from
Aidan Gardiner put the Falcons ahead by four again, 28-24, with 2:25 remaining. Union closed out the half with a 6-0 run to lead 30-28.
2nd | Union used a 14-5 run in the beginning stages of the second half to jump out to a 44-33 lead. A bucket from
Brandon Fussell halted the run but hot three-point shooting lifted Union to a 50-37 lead with 11:09 to play. Union continued shooting hot from deep and jumped out to a 22-point lead, 72-50 with 4:48 to play. Union kept its foot on the gas and led by as many as 27, winning 83-56.
GAME NOTES
- Union outrebounded the Falcons 49-29, marking the second-lowest rebounding total of the season and the largest rebounding margin.
- Montevallo shot 34. 9 percent from three-point range while Union went 16-of-35 for 47.5 percent.
- There were five lead changes and six ties in the contest.
- Jaylen Curry led UM with 15 points, for his eighth double-digit game of the year. Cam Glover tallied 11 points while Charlie Champagne and Brandon Fussell each added 10.
