Box Score Box Score Pensacola, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team had a rough game against the University of West Florida Argonauts, falling 79-102, Saturday.
Montevallo started a bit slow, falling behind 10 points before Braxton Bertolette scored the first two points of the game for the Falcons at the 16:25 mark in the first half. The Falcons managed to keep the Argonauts within striking distance, not allowing the lead to surpass 13 points. At the end of the first half, the Falcons were trailing 30-42.
After the break, the scoring seemed to be stable on both sides, with a solid attack in the paint from the Falcons. Unfortunately West Florida's offense was too much, as a fastbreak dunk by the Argonauts caused Montevallo to crumble. The lead ballooned for West Florida, as the Falcons were down by as much as 33 in the second half. With 5:00 minutes to go, Montevallo continued to play hard, cutting the lead to as low as 21, before finishing the game 79-102.
In the battle with the Argonauts, the Falcons managed to win the battle in the paint, outscoring them 30-26.
