MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's lacrosse team drop its season-opener at home against Florida Southern, 23-4, on Sunday, Feb. 5.
The Falcons defense got out to a sluggish start, allowing eight FSC goals in the first quarter.
Zach Laberge put Montevallo on the board for the first time in 2023 with an unassisted goal at the 1:14 mark in the first.
Morgan Trites added the second Falcon goal of the afternoon off a pass from
Connor Frederick on a man-up opportunity to begin the second quarter. Florida Southern scored four unanswered goals to end the half with a 12-2 lead.
After the Mocs added a pair of goals to start the third quarter,
Scott Friant powered a shot home for a goal with
Luke Hennebaul recording the assist.
Zach Reed and
Coleman Hargis connected on a scoring chance with Reed taking the goal and Coleman credited with the assist.
A scoreless fourth quarter from the Falcons gave Florida Southern the 23-4 win.
