MONTEVALLO, ALA. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team slips vs No 20 Saint Leo
The Falcons started off slow in this game, not scoring any goals in the first period, while allowing five from Saint Leo, putting them down 0-5
The Second quarter started with a Falcon goal from
Kiley Shea, with an assist to
Mikaela Barbieri at the 12:40 mark. Three Lion goals split Montevallo's first and second goal of the period, which came with 3:47 left until halftime from
Jodi Morawiec. The Lions added another score before
Anja Kuys put one in the back of the net with 0:15 left until halftime. This brought the score to 3-9
The Falcons came out from halftime ready to fight, as
Claire Withington scored a goal right out of the gate. Both Saint Leo and Montevallo were held to only one goal on the period, making the score 4-10.
In similar fashion to the second and third period, the Falcons struck first to begin the final period. An unassisted goal from
Mikaela Barbieri and
Claire Withington at the 14:28 and 9:51 marks brought Montevallo within reach of the Lions. Saint Leo added another goal before the final score of the game from
Jodi Morawiec with 3:36 until the horn. The Falcons fall 7-11.
