MONTEVALLO, ALA. – In a Gulf South Conference match on Thursday evening, the University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell to UAH 21-11.
The Falcons drop to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in GSC action.
After falling behind from two quick Charger goals, freshman
Carsyn Tinney halved the UAH lead with a goal off an assist from
Kiley Shea. She netted her second point of the day when she found the back of the net unassisted at the 2:35 mark in the first to make it a four-goal game, 6-2.
A pair of UAH goals pushed the visitors back in front by six at the end of the first, 8-2.
Montevallo added three goals in the second, beginning with a
Mikaela Barbieri score at the 11:36 mark, following another Shea assist.
Jodi Morawiec and
Jenna Piazza each added scores in the period. UAH's offense kept clicking, however, as the Falcons trailed 11-5 at the break.
The Chargers rattled off a trio of goals to begin the second half.
Lily Moats ended the UAH run with an unassisted goal at the 1:10 mark of the third for the only Falcon goal in the period.
Shea, Barbieri, and Morawiec each added goals in the final period but it wasn't enough to catch the Chargers as the Falcons fell, 21-11.
GAME NOTES
- For the second straight game, Jodi Morawiec led UM's offense, scoring four goals Thursday.
- Kiley Shea score two goals and added two assists to tie Morawiec for the team-lead in points.
- UAH outshot the Falcons 25-17 and placed 28 on goal.
- Montevallo led UAH in ground balls, 13-12 and won the turnover battle 15-13.
