Wallace State Transfer Joins Komara's 2023 Class

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - University of Montevallo Head Men's Basketball Coach Anthony Komara has announced the signing of transfer Jaylen Curry to the 2023 class.

Curry a 6-6 forward from Hazel Green, Alabama has signed with the Falcons as part of the 2023 class.
 
The guard joins Montevallo after playing one season at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama, where he shot 59.8 percent from the field in 2022-23. Through 29 games played, the forward averaged 4.8 points and 3.6 boards per game. He scored a season-high 13 points in a win over Snead State on Feb. 15.
 
Before helping lead Wallace State to 21 wins a year ago, Curry prepped at Hazel Green High School under Head Coach Jeremy Crutcher for four seasons. During his senior season in 2021-22, Curry was named the team MVP and a 6A All-Region selection for the Trojans with 14 points and eight rebounds per game. In his final two high school seasons, Curry helped Hazel Green to back-to-back Area Championships in 2021 and 2022.
 
Curry graduated high school with honors and was an honor student while at Wallace State. He will have three years of eligibility at Montevallo and is undecided on his major.


Komara has now signed nine to the 2023 class. Curry joins previous signees Tevin Gowins, Reese Gurner, Justin Graham, Cameron Glover, Brandon Fussell, Carson Pringle, Landon Butler and Tyson Sexton. So far, the class includes five transfers and four true freshmen.
