MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer has two matchups slated for the week with Newberry coming to town on Wednesday, Sept. 13 before the Falcons head to Greenwood, S.C. to take on Lander on Sept. 16.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons struggled through the first three games of the season, falling in the late stages to Emmanuel before taking a loss at the hands of Clayton State. Montevallo looked to rebound in a matchup with North Georgia but the Nighthawks were too much for the Falcons, taking the game 2-1.

Newberry holds a 1-0-1 record through its first two games of the season with a 4-0 win over USC Aiken and a 3-3 draw with Catawba. Newberry boasts a powerful offense with seven total goals through just two games. The Wolves have a pair of two-goal scorers in Seraphin Guetan and Ethan Orozco. Newberry's keeper Jacob Cotton holds a 1-0-1 record with 10 saves and three goals allowed in 180 minutes in goal.

The Bearcats have also had their share of struggles in the early-going with an 0-3-1 record through the first four games. Lander has struggled to find consistent scoring this season with just three goals through four games. LU's offense is led by Christian Hatley who scored a goal in each of the first two games of the seasons. The Bearcats keeper Juan Rodriguez has tallied 270 minutes in goal but has allowed seven goals in his three starts.
Series History Against Newberry:
Montevallo has had historical success against the Wolves with an unbeaten 3-0-1 record against Newberry since 2008 when the Falcons won 1-0. Both sides took a draw in 2009 before Montevallo topped Newberry in 2010. After an 11-year hiatus, the squads matched up in 2021 when the Falcons took a 1-0 win in double overtime.
Series History Against Lander:
The Falcons renew an old Peach Belt Conference rivalry when UM heads to Lander on Saturday. The series has gone back and forth with neither team taking more than two matchups in a row. Lander currently holds a one-game advantage in the series with a 5-4 record against the Falcons with Montevallo closing the gap after a 3-1 victory in the most recent matchup during the 2016 season.

Julio Rojo, Brank Buljan Ivelich,
Michael Milliron and
Joshua Owens each found the back of the net once while Rojo and
Hugo Cakurda are the two Falcons to record an assist.
Tomas Valles Gilbert has struggled a bit in goal allowing nine goal but saving 16 shots in the process.
