Montevallo Falls to West Alabama

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer fell to West Alabama, 3-0, on Friday evening to fall to 1-2 in conference play.
 
West Alabama got on top early with a goal inside the first five minutes of the game. The Falcons responded with back-to-back shots from senior Michael Milliron whose second shot found the mark but was saved by the UWA keeper.
 
In the 24th minute, Tomas Valles Gilbert kept the Tigers from adding to its lead with his first save of the night. A shot that would have tied the game from senior Mark Shoebridge in the 30th minute just missed wide that would have tied the game.
 
The Falcons looked to draw the game level in the closing stages of the first half with two shots from Julio Rojo, one that was saved and another that sailed over the crossbar. Valles Gilbert kept the Falcons from falling into a 2-0 hole just before the half with his third save of the day.
 
Out of the half, Montevallo was on the attack early with two shots on frame inside the first six minutes of the half from senior Otger Vendrell. Valles Gilbert made back-to-back saves in the 55th and 60th minute to keep the Falcons within striking distance.
 
West Alabama added to its lead in the 82nd minute before securing the game with a third goal in the 90th minute.
